News from Ellie!

Ellie is back to England and she is missing you a lot! Here is a message and some pictures just for you!

"Hello Santo Domingo English students,

I hope you are all enjoying English this year :)

Here is a picture of where I live: London, the capital of England. In this picture it is very sunny, just like Madrid!

This is a picture of my dog Teddy when she was a puppy- she was so small!

This is a picture of an elephant and I from when I visited Thailand in the Summer. Elephants are my favourite animal, what is your favourite animal?

Here I am with two monkeys on a beach in Thailand. They were very cheeky and stole my lunch!"

P.S. Here you can see London on a world map. It is not so far away! Have you ever been to London?

It's reading time!

In class we are learning about health. We are healthy when we feel good physically and mentally.

To be healthy we need to look after all the systems of our body and we need to do healthy activities in our free time.

When we are not healthy, we are ill, and sometimes we need to go to the doctor.

Read these books and learn more about your body and your health!

Lots of information about different organs and systems (a bit difficult, but not impossible, you can read it!)

A nice and easy story about an illness (very easy, try to read it!):

A story about a visit to the dentist (a bit more difficult, but you will understand a lot):

Diego's project

Last week Diego made this project for the Sciences class:

He drew and labelled the digestive system...

... the respiratory system...

... the circulatory system...

... and the locomotor system.

"My mother gave me the idea for this project. I first drew and cut the body silhouettes on different colour papers. Then I drew a different system on each silhouette. At the end I wrote the names of the various parts of the systems. It was a very entertaining way to revise for the exam and now my friends can also learn from it. My mother helped me a little bit. I had lots of fun!" Diego

Thank you very much, Diego. Great idea!

Our Halloween party

Last Thursday, 1st and 2nd grade celebrated a great Halloween party at school.

Everything was decorated with bats, spiders, skeletons, black cats, pumkins and other spooky creatures, ready for the little monsters.

First, everybody put on their scary costumes. Suddenly, the children transformed into witches, ghosts, devils, cats, zombies, werewolves and skeletons, some spiders and even a giant cockroach!

Then, for more than an hour we lived different Halloween experiences: funny games, spooky stories, terrific dances and interesting crafts. We learned how to make origami bats and everyone took one home!

At the end, all the monsters got a treat. It was a sweet surprise!

We had lots of fun!!

Itzíar brought these cute bats to decorate the class. Thank you, Itzíar, they are fantastic!
